Where does Nautobot Cloud run? Is it deployed in my own AWS account?

Nautobot Cloud is a fully managed service that Network to Code operates for you on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Each customer is provisioned with a dedicated, isolated environment — a dedicated AWS account with its own private network, its own managed Kubernetes cluster, and its own dedicated PostgreSQL database. Your environment is logically separated from every other customer's.

Which AWS regions is Nautobot Cloud available in?

Nautobot Cloud offers the following AWS regions by default:

  • US East (N. Virginia, us-east-1)
  • US East (Ohio, us-east-2)
  • US West (Oregon, us-west-2)
  • Europe (Frankfurt, eu-central-1)
  • Europe (London, eu-west-2)
  • Asia Pacific (Sydney, ap-southeast-2)

Your region is chosen when your environment is first set up. If you need a region not listed here, contact your account team.

How are Nautobot instances deployed?

When you create an instance, Nautobot Cloud provisions it on managed Kubernetes within your dedicated environment. Each instance runs its own web, worker, and scheduler services against its own database, and starts from a curated Nautobot image with a broad set of Nautobot Apps already available. Deployment is automated and typically completes in about 10 minutes (occasionally longer if the platform is scaling up capacity).

How are high availability and disaster recovery handled?

Nautobot Cloud services are deployed across multiple AWS Availability Zones for high availability, and your database runs as a redundant, multi-node cluster. Disaster recovery options are tailored to customer requirements — contact support to discuss your needs.

How does Nautobot Cloud connect to my network?

Nautobot Cloud supports several private connectivity options — Secure Proxy, Site-to-Site VPN, AWS Transit Gateway, and AWS Direct Connect. See Connect to Your Network to choose the right option. Private IP addressing for your environment is coordinated with you during onboarding.

How do instances scale under load?

Each instance's worker capacity scales automatically based on demand, driven primarily by CPU and memory utilization. Scaling behavior can be tuned to your workloads — including dedicated worker queues — in collaboration with the support team.

How are the Cloud Console and platform updated?

Updates to the Nautobot Cloud Console are applied automatically and seamlessly by Network to Code — there is nothing for you to do. Platform or infrastructure updates that could affect your environment in AWS are also handled by Network to Code, and are coordinated with you in advance for a maintenance window.
