Nautobot Query Agent¶
How is the Nautobot Query Agent set up and configured?
Your Nautobot instance URL and an API token need to be added to the NautobotGPT instance in the Nautobot Cloud Console via settings/environment variables or secrets. See Connecting to Nautobot for step-by-step instructions.
What authentication & authorization does the agent use to access my Nautobot instance?
The agent authenticates with Nautobot using the Nautobot API Token that it's configured with. The RBAC permissions that this token has are what the agent inherits. It's recommended to create a read-only service account in Nautobot and use its API Token when configuring NautobotGPT.
Can the Nautobot Query Agent be disabled?
Yes. You do not need to provide a Nautobot endpoint to NautobotGPT. If the Nautobot Query Agent is not desired, you can still use NautobotGPT for all of its knowledge-related capabilities.
Can I set up NautobotGPT to communicate with multiple Nautobot instances?
No. At this time, the Nautobot Query Agent in NautobotGPT can only be configured to communicate with a single Nautobot instance.
Can the Nautobot Query Agent communicate with my self-hosted Nautobot instance?
No. At this time, the Nautobot Query Agent in NautobotGPT can only communicate with Nautobot instances deployed in Nautobot Cloud.
How can I get the Nautobot querying functionality for my self-hosted Nautobot?
For self-hosted Nautobot instances (i.e. non-Nautobot Cloud), the same querying functionality of the Nautobot Query Agent in NautobotGPT can be achieved by using our official Nautobot MCP Server. See the Nautobot MCP Server documentation for more information.
Is there an added cost or tier for the Nautobot Query Agent in NautobotGPT?
No! If you are a Nautobot Cloud customer and have NautobotGPT, you'll be able to take advantage of this agent.
